SEO...what is it? Search engine optimization. In its simplest form SEO is the process of identifying what people are searching for, how they're searching for it and applying the phrases people use while searching contextually in your web site or web application. Specific to you, it is performed within the context of your industry and/or particular sector within your industry. Compiled lists of keywords and key-phrases identified through research begins the process--applying the lists strategically throughout your site is the goal. The #1 misconception however, is thinking researching and applying keywords and key-phrases alone does the job. It doesn't--not without the companionship of other key factors. The most important of which is creating associations within your content. If your website or web application's content does not coincide with the applied keywords, the keywords are more-or-less useless. Re-writing your content based on your lists of keywords makes your content relevant in-and-of itself and more importantly, makes your content relevant for organic search results. Once the research has been completed, the content has been re-written, all Meta tag information created, page- and site structure nomenclature has been edited as well as other elements performed for responsible SEO, we will then work with you on Link Building--giving your website or web application relevance to and from other websites.SEO process Keyword & key-phrase research Proper research ensures your website is optimized around the keywords most often used by your current and potential customers. Without proper research however, optimization is likely to yield poor results because we are only looking at a 'best-guess' scenario. Even our best guess might not begin to cover the multitude of keywords and key-phrases your customers use while searching. The research phase of SEO generally produces a finalized set of keywords and key-phrases ranging from 1-150. Depending on the complexity of your company as well as the complexity of your professional landscape, the final set may be much larger. Identifying your competition After selecting the most appropriate keywords, it is important to know which websites rank highest in the major search engines. Websites appearing most often, in this case, are your competition even though they may not be a direct competitor. Evaluating your competition Comparing your website to the competition helps to give an idea of where the initial efforts of optimization should be focused. By doing so, we gather an understanding of what the competition is doing and identify weaknesses to potentially capitalize on. Detailed website analysis A detailed analysis of the your website provides the details necessary to plan a successful optimization.
